1.    Eng. (Mrs.) M. S. Weerasinghe

The presenter is a Chartered Civil Engineer by Profession. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from University of Peradeniya and Post Graduate Diplomas in Hydraulic Engineering & Environmental Management. She has counted around 33 years of extensive practical experience in Housing Development. She is currently the Acting General Manager of National Housing Development Authority under the Ministry of Housing & Construction of Sri Lanka.

 

2.    Mrs. Mihiri Vipulaguna

The presenter is an Architect by Profession. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Built Environment from University of Moratuwa, Dip. In Shelter Design & Development and PG Dip in Writer ship & Communication.  She has counted around 16 years of extensive practical experience in Housing Development. She is currently the Assistant Director (Architecture) Urban Settlement Development Authority under the Ministry of Housing & Construction of Sri Lanka.

With a brief description about the country and its background, the presentation mainly covers the current Plans, Policy, Institutional framework and their coordination in provision of Urban Basic Services in Sri Lanka. FIRST, While highlighting the contemporary policies and Plans it also present the issues and challenges in each sector in brief. In addition the success stories in service delivery are presented. The emerging practices like PPP and community participation, and enhancement of Good Governance in those sectors are also presented where relevant.
