The State of Integrated Planning in India Today : Imperatives

Coverage of presentation

The presentation deals with the early efforts towards integrated planning of townships/neighbourhoods in Indian cities and then identifies the reasons for decline of this practice.  It argues that integrated planning in Indian cities has reduced for a variety of reasons and the new emerging urban structure is that of decentralized private sector developments.  The presentation brings out the forces and factors responsible for this shift in practice and the consequent implications of the same.  In conclusion, it argues for development of a hybrid model.
